Wyatt and I are playing school today. I wrote my name, and he wrote his. He typed this story to tell you all about his day!
Hope you all are having a wonderful day!

I was forced, against my will to attend the Oklahoma State Game on Saturday. I was accused my my hubby and FIL of not being in the spirit, but my toe nails were painted orange, I promise.

I did, however, drink an adult beverage out of an orange can, and let my kids wear orange. Wyatt saw his shirt with the OSU mascot on it and said, "I hate Pistol Pete." And I laughed but didn't egg him on. I swear.
In the car, Aaron told me I needed to conform and get into the school spirit. (As if) He was trying to get me to say "Go Pokes!" All I could muster was "Go Oklahoma" and "Boomer Pokes", neither of which he appreciated.
Who's scared of a Poke anyway? (I know...who's scared of a Sooner right? We at least we carry shotguns...)

The kids had a lot of fun, and Wyatt won a pair of binoculars from the Verizon booth for doing a "Dance Off" for the crowd. He's pretty fly for a white guy.
I always feel compelled to make lots of jokes at the expense of OSU when I go to their turf. (And it's not often that I'm invited, so I save them up.) I'd like to share with you now, my perennial favorite:
Ahem.
Hey...did you hear they're going to remove the artificial turf and replace it with grass? Turns out the cheerleaders need someplace to graze at halftime....
Ba-dum-Pum.

The Board

Some of you may know that I am involved with the Board of the Junior League of Norman, and a few weeks ago we had a very fun retreat. This is a photo of my Posse that I will be spending the next 9 months with, and I thought you'd like to see them.

I also included a photo of us, hard at work at our retreat...

First Day of School

Rememeber when school used to start in the Fall? I don't think we have any business starting school in August, on any day that ends in "-teenth."

But here we sit:

This year, I forced her to hug me b/c I'm still in therapy about last year (see last year's blog post about first day of school). She did, then found all her friends from last year.

In true Curry spirit, she already got a warning about talking too much to her friends when she was supposed to be learning. (Some of you may remember that, in kindergarten, this unique trait granted her a month in Mrs. Schall's "special desk"....the one right beside the teacher's desk, far from other students.)

I got to chat with her teacher for a long while at back -to-school night b/c we were so late getting there. (Due to much debate over the outfit displayed in the previous post...)

As luck would have it, she and I had some mutual friends in college. She was the high school debate partner of one of my college speech teammates. Guess who will be winning most of the arguments in the classroom this year? :-)

What Goes Around....

It seems like I already had post with that title, but I'm sure there will be many more.

Hey, Mom? Dad? Remember in the 80's when you were so embarrassed about some of the things I wore?

Thought you'd like to see what Wyatt wore to Back To School night...for 1000 of our closest friends and neighbors to see:

At least you can't see his shield, b/c "it's invisible to people."

San Antonio

We spent last week in San Antonio with 1200 of Mass Mutual's finest people at Leaders Club (or as I have now deemed it: Eaters Club....cuz it was one big buffet).
We played, ate, toured, ate, went to a rodeo, ate, and went to Sea World, where we watched seals eat....
Here are some highlights:
My Little Tour-on:
Wyatt charmed everyone with his cowboy hat, and his knack for telling bad jokes on the tour bus at 10:30 at night.

Ahhhh, a small Sooner easily out-wits a large Texas Longhorn....no surprise there.

Jenna got her faced painted 2 night in a row, and would like you all to know that she can now turn 3 consecutive sommersaults underwater, thanks to hours in the hotel pool.

I think this is a Barbie Doll hat...just proves that everything really is bigger in Texas.

We had Dinner With Shamu at Seaworld. The kids loved it, but they were at tiny bit afraid he might scoot over that ledge and eat them.
On the way home, we stayed at Aaron's aunt's home and rode her horse. Even mom got in the action (please insert your favorite joke about rear-ends here...)

Git along little doogies....now it's back to reality!

The Toe

Poor Jenna....not known for her grace! On Tuesday night, sitting at the kitchen bar, she reached for a toy way too far away, and tipped the chair, and herself. The chair fell on her pinky toe, smashing it on the tile.
I took her to urgent care yesterday for an x-ray, and the pinky toe is broken. That's actually the good news, b/c we just tape it for a few weeks, and she can swim, bathe, etc.
Then the doc says, "Normally I wouldn't see an ortho for a broken toe, but it's twisted out just a little, so you might want to see one, b/c sometimes the have to pin these."
Pin the pinky toe on a 7 year old?!?!? Are you kidding?
Here's the best part: Exactly 2 weeks ago today, I saw my ortho for the last time and said, "It's been great...may we never meet again!"
As it turns out, he doesn't accept my health insurance, so we can't go there...may not go at all...am I a bad parent for that?
