A Conversation About Family Trees

This morning:
Me: grandma and grandpa are coming next week. It's going to be great!
Wyatt: I wish Grandma and Grandpa had kids.
Me: They have kids, son. Me.
Wyatt: Oh. Are you an only child?
Me: I have a sister, named Julie. You've met her.
Wyatt: Well, sorry, mom. I don't know everything about your childhood. I wasn't there, you know. I was still up in heaven.

Baking 101

Jenna wanted to take her first crack at completely solo baking. She got up before the sun and made Oatmeal Blueberry Muffins.
I think my days in the kitchen are coming to an end, with this little one at the helm.
Wish I had also taken a photo of the kitchen when it was over!!!

Once Every 90 Years....

....we are all on time for a family event.
Yesterday, Aaron's grandma turned 90 so we all flew in and cleaned up and helped her celebrate.
My father in law got in the spirit by wearing her hat
The kids got in the spirit by playing with balloons.
And i tried to "photobomb" their shot.
Aaron's cousin was in disguise
we had a piano player, cake, punch and gobs of ice cream (wouldn't be a Curry event without it...)
At the end, Wyatt walked on his hands for entertainment and Jenna played Happy Birthday on the piano.
We were having a grand time til one of the residents drove by on her scooter and announced that we needed to be quiet because BINGO was about to start and they could hear.
Sorry. Ninetieth birthdays don't come along too often. Pardon is for celebrating.....

A New Way To Practice Spelling

Like any busy family, I'm always looking for ways to be efficient.
This idea pretty much beats all.
Wyatt needed to practice his spelling words AND take a bath. Since he's part fish, baths can take approximately 6 hours. So, I gave him a washable marker and had him write his speeding words while he soaked his weary body.
I feel sort of like I just sneaked veggies under the cheese of a pizza here--little work disguised as fun!

The Truth About What We Do After the kids go to bed

Aaron and I were having a good laugh about this little photo. The kids wanted to see what was so funny.
I wish you could have seen their faces as they processed the possibility of "secret ice cream."
Priceless.
