Fourth of July

We were very lucky to have lots of fireworks this weekend! On Friday, we went to the Curry's and set off a few in the backyard.

On Saturday, we went out to a friends farm, and saw the small town parade on the way. At the farm we ate yummy, homegrown burgers, and did some swimming. All the adult (and I use that term loosely) males were doing flips off the diving board, and Aaron was not about to be outdone:

Thankfully, no one needed a medic.

Wyatt discovered all the tractors, and like any male named "Wyatt" he drove all 5 of them:

We all went home for long, yummy naps, and then a HUGE storm rolled in. The night cooled off, and we went to watch fireworks, but they had been postponed to Sunday. So we found a vacant lot in the middle of Moore, and watched all the neighborhoods around shoot them off. We had no idea you could buy this sort of stuff at the Fireworks stand! I guess the cops gave up, b/c we saw them just drive past people shooting them off in the streets.

The kids poked their heads out the sun roof to watch all around, and Wyatt said, "This is the best family fun night ever!"

So, on Sunday we packed up for fireworks again, and watched them in Norman. We were treated to 3 other shows on the way home, not including the "Redneck Specials" along the way.

Family Ties

My Grandpa (Papa Gene) and my Aunt Trina stopped by this week on their cross country trek from California to Alabama, to see family.

They stopped by our house for the night, and even though my kids didn't remember them, they were so excited, they jumped all over them to say hi. Wyatt nearly tackled my poor grandpa!.

I told Wyatt he could sleep in my room b/c Papa Gene would be in his room. Wyatt said he'd just sleep with Papa Gene, but I told him Papa Gene snores too loudly.

He had been here about 10 minutes when I heard Wyatt say, "Come on and see my room, Papa Gene. Hey, how loud can you snore? I bet I can snore really loud, too!"
I have another photo with Trina in it, but she's still in her jammies and will never speak to me again if I post it for all the world to see....

Let's Go, Let's Go, Let's RODEO!

Saturday night, we went to a rodeo with the kids. They asked, "What's a rodeo?" and I said, "Don't tell Grandpa you asked me that...."

We were a little early for the rodeo, so we ate at Jake's Ribs (whatever image you have in your head right now is probably correct..), then went to the park. Jenna took this photo:

They rode a horse, chased calves in the arena, and contemplated whether or not Wyatt is ready for Mutton Busting. (Wyatt and I think yes...Aaron was shocked that I would let Wyatt do something dangerous, for once. I told him falling off a sheep in a dirt arena is not dangerous....)

Aaron was a complete Tour-On (that's a combo between a tourist and a moron...) and videoed every moment, included the bareback riding event.
As we were leaving, Wyatt said, "Dad, when we get home, can we play bucking bull and you be the bull?" Ahhhh, a new sport for Aaron.

Postlude: On Sunday morning while I was out running, a game of Bucking Bull did ensue in the living room. Guess who got hurt? Not the cowgirl or cowboy....the bull. But that's another post altogether.

In my ongoing attempt to win the Mom-Of-The-Award, I put the ladder in our backyard so Wyatt can watch all the earthmovers that have begun construction on the new school. The tractors are so close that they wave over the fence to us as they drive by. It's mind-numbing for me, but he can stand there for hours!
He just came in and informed that it looks like they are doing things correctly back there, so that's good...

Fathers Day, Part 2

Forgot to add the Famous Curry Family "Cha-Cha Slide" starring Aaron's dad, sister and niece....I sat this one out....

And my handsome boys:

Wyatt wore his tie to church and was a door greeter with Aaron...he was so proud of himself!

Happy Father's Day

For all you manly men out there, I say Happy Father's Day to You!
My sweet hubby spent the day doing the one thing fathers love: getting his hair done by his little girl:

She went to a fabulous b-day party on Sat. and got her hair and nails done. Apparently, she has found her calling becuase I found this note on her bedroom door today:

After Aaron's got his cut and color, we went to the Curry's for some fierce lawn games and swimming:

Ready for A Meeting at the Chapter House....

Today, my grandma sent a birthday gift for Wyatt, including a shirt and tie. he was so excited to put it on and be "just like daddy!" I grabbed two blazers from his closet, and he chose the nicer of the two (good taste, I see). He put it on over his shirt and tie (Jenna was trying to help him clip it on...) and said, "Now I'm ready to go to work. Oh, I need pants."
